I just did a Google search on my name and discovered that one of my Flickr images got used in a video presentation accompanying a perfomance of “Music in Similar Motion,” a Phillip Glass composition. I was rather surprised to find this out, as no one had informed me that this was going to take place. Oh well.

I just saw March of the Penguins last night. I must say it was quite excellent, and extremely moving. I don’t want to give it away to anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, but it really blew my mind. Take your kids, take your granny, take yourself. But GO!
On a similar note, seeing the movie reminded me that I’d read an article a while back about homosexual penguins. Evidently, this type of thing is not unusual or unheard of in the animal kingdom. However, it is not widely documented. Nevertheless, let this be another testament to homosexuality being normal, and a reminder that humans should simply get over their hangups and fears and grow up.

This is a collection of my nude favorites, created by other photographers on Flickr. None of these pictures are actually mine.
To those of you visiting from the Flickr site, consider this an unwelcome study on human sexual behavior.? Your visit has been logged. You are not eternally damned, nor are you perverse. This is perfectly normal. Thank you for participating.

If you’re in downtown Milwaukee for lunch and want to be hungry well before dinnertime, consider checking out Nectar.
The service isn’t the friendliest. I’d been in there several times, and I never felt like they actually wanted me in there. Maybe it’s because they knew in advance that I would shred them on my blog.
I ordered a roast beef sandwich, while Nicole picked up an Italian garden sandwich. The sandwiches arrived in plastic containers (no recycling available in the store). The roast beef was neither brown nor red, but grey. Great color for monochromatic art, awful color for food. Nicole ate hers without complaint. Overall, the food was acceptable going down the gullet. It was hours later that the problem revealed itself: we were hungry. A mere 3 hours after we ate the meal, we were ready for some real food.
Nectar’s meals have no substance, and don’t pass my fill-me-up test.

This begins my unofficial restaurant review phase. We’ll see how long it lasts.
If you’re ever in Milwaukee’s Third Ward district and have a hankering for some food, do yourself a favor and avoid Sauce at all costs.
I went to Sauce with Nicole on Sunday night. Totally unimpressed. Potentially pretentious atmosphere. Cool art on the walls. The sparse selection of meals were grossly overpriced. No entrees under $20, if I remember properly. But even the most expensive meals can feel worthwhile if the service is superb. Not so in this case. Although our waitress was fine (not excellent), the waiter who brought out our drinks was simply offensive. He managed to spill hot (steaming) water all over our table, and got a drop on me in the process. I kept my mouth shut as I watched his movements, wondering what the damage could have been had the water splashed a couple of inches closer to me. That guy had NO business being a waiter. His hands simply trembled too much. He appeared to be in his mid thirties. Perhaps he had a case of Early Onset Parkinson’s Disease. Nevertheless, I watched him return with a rag, wipe our table, make his way to a pair of not-so-attractive women, and talk to them with a courtesy that ALL his customers deserved.
The appetizers we ordered were fine. Nicole liked the crab cakes. The one I tried contained real crab meat, and was rather tasty. My beet salad had some type of yellow beet I had never seen before (I thought beets were supposed to be blood red), and it was good. The portions were somewhat small, in my opinion. Essentially, the food that we had was fairly good, but not worth the price of crappy service.
Departing, we walked past the Wicked Hop (an aborted choice for the evening). I wished we would have eaten there instead.

I cut my dreads off a couple weeks ago. They served me well for almost two years. My spirit had definitely outgrown them. The process was a great relief. It was if a great weight had been lifted off my head.
Nicole helped me cut some dreads. Actually, I had my family help me initially. My brother Alex cut the first, my mother Irina cut the second, and my father Cecil cut the third. Then Nicole cut a couple, and I cut some more, and back and forth.

One of my favorite things about my new place are the grape vines just outside my front door. They are currently flowering, and produce the sweetest scent…

I’m in the new place. Waiting for my ‘net connection to be implemented (tomorrow). I have my bed, a dresser, some clothes all set up, as well as a TV, DVD player, and a couple of speakers. The rest of my stuff is still in boxes. My goal is to weed through my stuff as I open them, and hopefully condense my possessions to only what I really need or want.
I like the new house. I’ll post some pix soon. It’s got a great vibe, and feels very relaxing. In fact, it feels like I’m actually in another state: New Mexico.

I’m moving…across the yard.
Into a one bedroom house. It’s going to be great. I can’t wait to live alone. Having to deal with roommates has been tedious. Plus, I’m bummed (aka pissed) some of my stuff has vanished. Oh well. These things have a way of being reciprocated by the universe.
The bottom line is this: I’m going to be a bit busy. I haven’t really been blogging much, so hopefully nobody will really miss the absence of a post from me this weekend.
Er. Let’s see.
That’s it. Oh, I’m getting a heated stone massage in a couple of minutes. I can’t wait. My back and upper shoulders have been killing me. I’ve got pinched nerves left & right. I hope this helps.

My brother Alex, his friend Max, and I went to Osco to buy some water. While the woman at the checkout counter started ringing up our order, I asked her if anyone had won the $180 million lottery.
To which she replied, “Someone won it. It was $215 million. They were from Idaho or Iowa… one of those farming countries.”
We stifled laughter as we were leaving with our drinks.
Later, I told Nicole about it, and she said there were two especially amusing things about what the check-out lady said:
1) Iowa and Idaho are states, not countries.
2) Wisconsin is ALSO a farming state, and the clearly dim woman had no inkling that she lived in a “farming country,” as she liked to call it.
