Brilliant Days
Whilst perusing the web for Joost invites, I stumbled across Øyvind Solstad’s BrilliantDays, a blog about digital media, among other things. Although my initial goal was obtaining a Joost invite, I checked out his site and was pleasantly surprised to find some cool things, which I’ve outlined below:
Photoshop tutorials
- How to make a rainbow in Photoshop
- How to create realistic bubbles on your pictures
- How to create Amazing circles (see the Amazing Circles Flickr group, created by Øyvind; and another post about Amazing Circles; Long Exposure, the image displayed above, is one of his creations)
Miscellaneous
- An author is offering a volunteer a part in a book in exchange for getting killed (in the book, I think)
- A brilliant way to deal with telemarketers
- BPM for your iTunes songs
Lastly, Øyvind has a complaint about Pro Tools 6.9, which leads me to ask:
Øyvind, have you checked out Pro Tools 7.3? While I haven’t done any video work with Pro Tools (my experience is limited to audio), I’m curious to find out if they’ve solved the problem.

Farewell 2101
I just sold this item on eBay, and I will never see it again. Although beaten & bruised, it served me faithfully on many a gig, and I owe it much gratitude. In a way, it is part of shedding the One Drum skin, since I used this effects/preamp unit quite extensively for bass and guitar when I was in that band. Farewell, Digitech Studio Tube GSP 2101!
April Snow
This is ridiculous. We got snow today, and I thought spring was coming. Some argue that this erratic weather is a direct result of global warming.

Quote of the Day
I was walking through the mall, and I happened to hear the following as I walked past two women:
I’m a big, fat-ass cow.
I had to seriously stifle laughter. I was way too bizarre and unexpected to hear such a candid statement.
